Illusions of Grandeur

He awoke to the sound of a car horn blaring out on the street and the sun streaming through the gap in the hastily shut curtains. His head was thumping from all the cheap red wine he had drunk the night before. He had vague memories of an hilarious taxi ride home, laughing at the poor driver who couldn't speak much English. The girl beside him rolled over and sighed gently and he smiled to himself, remembering meeting her in the dark corner of the club. After all that wine though, sleep had come well and truly to both of them before anything else. He sat up in the bed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes and struggled to remember a name. Looking down on her pretty face, her name came floating through the fog of his hangover, "Hi, I'm Elise, will you buy me a drink?" The morning light cast speckled shadows across her face, the gentle breeze making them dance over her soft features. He roused himself from the bed, threw on a pair of boxer shorts and stumbled his way down to the coffee machine. He stared out the window while the machine heated and wondered what he would say to her when she woke up.

Small World

Where do you take your troubles? My trouble is you.
